Superb Large Antique French 8 day inlaid mahogany balloon mantel clock circa 1890,with an open anchor escapement movement in a balloon shaped case with Sheridan design stringing and decorative inlay. Brass bezel with chamfered glass over a white enamelled dial with black roman hours and blued steel hands and fine slow/fast adjuster at 12 o/c Good quality brass drum anchor escapement spring driven pendulum regulated movement striking the hours on a bell,standing on brass feet and bearing the mark for Samuel Marti & Cie,Medaille De Bronze.

Medaille de Bronze" means bronze medal which was the award received in 1860. The name of the company is Samuel Marti & Cie. The medal was received at the Paris Exhibition of 1855. The company also received a Medaille d"Or(gold Medal) in Paris, 1900.
