Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
There are also fine satinwood inlays on the edges of the oval panels & on the doors, plus along the base of the drawers. Below the cornice is a dental frieze in the form of light & dark inlays. There are three shelves inside the cupboard & there is a slot for one more. We could make another shelf if so needed, or the bottom shelf could be placed at the top. The drawers are all graduated in depth, with mahogany turned handles, locks & fine dovetails. It has the classic apron shaped frieze between the splayed feet & on the sides. This linen press is in excellent condition, especially for an item over 200 years old. It also lifts apart into two sections for easy transportation. It’s quite rare to find these linen presses with bow fronts.
