William IV Mahogany Bracket Clock by John B Cross

Description

An excellent quality English William IV figured mahogany bracket clock with applied honeysuckle carving, shaped top, ebonised moulds, gothic style brass sound frets to the side stood on brass ball feet.

The clock has an eight inch painted dish dial with the makers name:-

The movement is a five pillar, eight day, twin fusee on chain with pull repeat action, strike - silent mechanism, anchor escapement, top pendulum adjustment and holdfast. The clock strikes the hours on a bell and the back plate is engraved with the makers name.

John Berryhill Cross was born in 1805. His father John Cross was also a clock and watch maker.

The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
