Description

A WALNUT MERCURY BAROMETER

with choice burr veneers to the case. A scrolled pediment with matching mouldings to the case edging. A silvered engraved thermometer scale with large mercury thermometer and well engraved main dial. An unusually large bore mercury tube.

The dial is signed ' A Casartelli, 54 Old Hall Street, Liverpool' who is listed in Banfields' 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1863-1881.
