Antique French Kingwood & Rosewood Bureau Plat Desk

Description

Smallish antique French ‘Bureau Plat’ desk in excellent original condition & dating to around the 1880-90 period. The wood is mainly Kingwood & Rosewood, plus there’s some wonderful floral marquetry made up from many exotic woods all around the top front, sides & back. There’s also some exquisite floral marquetry embedded into the centre of the top. The top edge is gilt bronze, as are the mounts & the feet. The gilding has aged naturally & adds to the overall character of this piece. There is a drawer on the front which does have a lock.

Depth – 26 inches, 67 cm

Height – 29 inches, 74 cm

Knee height – 24 inches, 60 cm
