The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Hallmarked for Birmingham 1836, makers Taylor & Perry.

It measures 4.5cm (1 3/4") wide, 2.1cm (1 1/8") high and 0.9cm (3/8") deep. Condition is excellent with no damage or dents and very light surface wear. There are 2 small holes that have been drilled and plugged just below the grille hinge which probably indicate that the hinge has been re-pinned and the work was to aid access but the work has clearly be done by a professional, is very small and the hinge show no signs of issue. The main hinge is also fine and the box closes well.
