Indistinctly signed and dated '1852' verso.

A very fine early painting after Thomas Uwins' original painting which was also engraved by Lumb Stocks RA (1812-1892). Inscribed 'Cupid & Psyche after T. Uwins' verso. Also indistinctly signed and dated '1852' verso.

Condition

In very fine condition. The canvas not lined, torn, patched or repaired. The stretcher lines are showing slightly. Clean, most attractive, well framed and ready to hang.

Artist Information

Thomas Uwins was a British portrait, subject, genre and landscape painter (in watercolour and oil), and a book illustrator. He became a full member of the Old Watercolour Society and a Royal Academician and held a number of high-profile art appointments including librarian of the Royal Academy, Surveyor of Pictures to Queen Victoria and Keeper of the National Gallery.
