A lovely two toned carved alabaster sculpture of a female set on a alabaster base. Signed G.V.Vaerenbergh. This alabaster sculpture is in very good condition with fine carving.

Gustave Van Vaerenbergh (1873- 1927)

Gustave Van Vaerenbergh was born in Ghent in 1873. He studied at the Ghent Academy of fine arts from 1888- 1890. He worked with Carli and Freres at rue I'olivier in Schaerbeek until 1925.

He mainly created busts in the Art Nouveau style using different materials including marble, alabaster, bronze, terracotta and plaster. His works were always of high quality and very sought after.
