Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A guilloche enamel box is a decorative container featuring engine-turned geometric patterns cut into metal, typically sterling silver, covered with layers of translucent enamel. Popularised in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these pieces were often produced in Austria, Russia, and France for use as pill, snuff, or trinket boxes.

Craftsmen used a specialised rose engine lathe to engrave precise patterns into a sterling silver substrate. Translucent glass enamel paste was then applied over the metalwork and fired at high temperatures before being polished flat and decorated with hand-painted details.

Authentic examples feature genuine maker marks, purity hallmarks such as 925 or regional assay stamps, and finely engine-turned patterns visible beneath uniform enamel. Genuine antique enamel shows fine depth and precision without modern synthetic resin coatings.

A small silver enamel box functions well as a decorative accent placed atop a dressing table, within a mirrored tray, or stacked on books on a bedside table. Its metallic lustre and detailed enamel work add texture and period character to vanity displays.

Wipe the enamel surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that could scratch glass enamel. Silver edges can be lightly buffed with a dedicated silver cloth, taking care not to let polish seep into the enamel seams.
