Description

A superb and rare 19th.Century American Wooton Desk. The barrel fronted solid walnut exterior having moulded frames with inset burr walnut fielded panels. The whole cabinet is secured with one lock and has a letter box so messages can be left when the desk is locked. The wings open to a very busy maple and walnut interior having an arrangement of 10 drawers and 83 pigeon holes with a drop down baize lined writing fall. To the back is a shaped metal plaque reading " WOOTON DESK COMPANY, 45 GORDON STREET, GLASGOW. Patented 1st. May 1875". This wonderful desk retains all the original cast and chased hinges, letter box, lock and casters. Condition- Very good with replacement keys. Free delivery to most of U.K. mainland.
