Description

A superb quality 19th Century walnut inlaid and gilt metal mounted desk / Bonheur Du Jour of lovely colour and proportions, the top having a brass gallery running along all three sections, a cupboard at the centre with a single fixed shelf inside, flanked either side by three graduated drawers, all with original brass handles, the central door having a lovely shaped panel decorated with brass moulding, the desk having a shaped top with a cross grain moulding, shaped frieze below with a drawer at the centre decorated with a mask mount, supported on cabriole legs which also has lovely quality mask mounts. Circa 1860.
