A 6 1/2" arched dial with corner cast spandrels. A silvered engraved dial centre with the original single hand dial layout. A name disc to the arch signed 'Nat Hedge, Colchester'. A 30 hour duration 'birdcage' mechanism striking the hours on a bell with well finished steel work. Brass weight to the anchor escapement.

Nathaniel Hedge is a noted clockmaker. He and his son's worked in the 18th and 19th century as recorded in Loomes and Baillies' Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' books. Circa 1750.
