Loveday Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
English, Circa 1760-70, George III.

Of serpentine form with shaped sides the rectangular solid mahogany top having a moulded edge, sits above two over three serpentine graduating figured mahogany cockbeaded drawers, each retaining their original ornate gilt brass swan neck handles (this handle was a design Chippendale favoured). Flanking to either side are decoratively carved blind fret canted corners with the sides sweeping out towards the detailed fretwork.

The base having a moulded edge and being raised on the original 'OG' bracket feet.
In excellent condition with a superb colour this fine chest of drawers will compliment any period setting or collection.

Over the years the model and scale of this chest of drawers has been found to be extremely popular and sought after which was extensively copied by the Victorians, Edwardians and well into the 20th century. A design that has stood the test of time and a pleasure to be able to own the original.
Please note the use of fine timbers and excellent proportions.
