Description

A lovely quality and impressive late 18th Century mahogany LONGCASE CLOCK in full working order.

The case is superb and typical of the design of London-made clocks of the period with it's pagoda top, brass inlay to columns that flank the hood door. The long trunk door is veneered in the finest flame mahogany.

The eight day movement has been professionally cleaned and it strikes on the hours on a bell and retains its original brass pendulum. The dial features a subsidiary seconds dial, original blued steel hands, date aperture and Strike/Silent control in the arch.

The engraved signature of the maker Kenneth Maclennan of London can be seen at the base.

Perfect working order and guaranteed for two years. 7ft 8inches tall overall (234cm)

c.1780

**Kenneth Maclennan worked at 9, Mays Buildings, St Martins Lane, London from 1776-1825. A maker of some note, he made scientific instruments as well as clocks and a clock by him featured in the renowned "Weatherfield Collection" which was dispersed in the 1920s.
