Description
A superb guilloche enamel silver topped dressing table pot. The glass base of the pot is decorated with clear panels with a hob nail cross hatch pattern either side of each panel and a star design cut into the base. The circular silver top is coated in the most beautiful vivid blue enamel in a delectable star burst design, giving it a 3d effect, an optical illusion of wavy movement. The top is hallmarked on one side for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark of 1931 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The silver maker's mark is Barker Brothers Silver Ltd. The underneath of the Lid is a pale gilt finish.
A beautifully attractive pot, in super antique condition. It is a good heavy weight and does not feel flimsy when held. (There are a few very tiny nibbles on some of the hob nail glass, hardly noticeable, commensurate with age and do not detract in any way from this item).
