Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
This Edwards & Roberts walnut pedestal desk was made circa 1885 by this famous company.

Not only did they manufacture items that were high fashion of the day, they also took period pieces and adapted them to suit the taste at the time, quite often carving the pieces to meet the high demands for carved oak and mahogany at that time.

This pedestal desk is a genuine piece made at the time to be sold in their showrooms, that had all the desirable features required.
The fine carved panels as well as the moulding around the drawer fronts as well as the original brass loop handles.

The desk is made in 3 parts, this is a must when you purchase a pedestal desk as if they are constructed in one piece the odds are that they have been adapted from a dressing table or washstand.
As it is made in the 3 parts, the top section and then the pair of pedestals each being separate, makes it very easy to transport and move around your home or office.

The top section is fitted a fine hand dyed and antiqued leather hide inset writing surface, with 3 drawers. To each side of the kneehole are the pedestals each with 3 graduated drawers.
137cms wide 54ins

71cms deep 28ins
76cms high 30ins
58.5cms kneehole height 23ins
All dimensions are approximate.
This Edwards & Roberts walnut pedestal desk is a finite piece of antique furniture that is a very green product which has not affected the environment we live in.
