A Fine Quality Ormolu French Mantel Clock (Henri Marc Paris, C. 1870)

Description

A fine quality French ormolu, gilt bronze mantel clock with pink porcelain dial made by Henri Marc of Paris, circa 1870.

The impressive and ornate moulded case with finely cast gilded bronze cherubs, raised on toupie feet.

The pink porcelain and gilded dial with cartouche style Roman numeral chapter ring, decorated with cherubs and mother to the centre.

The fully restored high quality 8 day twin train spring driven French movement, count wheel striking the hours and half hour on a single bell, with brocot regulation, made by Henri Marc of Paris.

Stamped to the backplate Henri Marc Paris and numbered 40185.

Delicate gilded spade design hands

An impressive clock in fine original condition with the movement fully restored to the highest level.

The condition of the case is excellent, with no losses and retaining the original two tone gilded finish.

The dial and small panel are also in excellent condition with no damage.

All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.

Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
