Description

Rare pair of Italian marble top chests of drawers c.1875. Grey marble tops with matching figuring and canted front corners over a four long drawers. Beautiful satin birch veneers across the front and sides overlaid with mahogany fretwork detail to the drawer front and plinth. Turned drawer knobs partially recessed into the fronts. Mahogany edge moulding and applied half depth turnings to the upper front corners. Solid mahogany ground work to the drawer fronts and mahogany drawer linings. Stamped F.Rubino and with a large paper label for the firm of Giacomo Rubino of Genoa (Genova) on the rear of one of the chests. Excellent colour and condition, with a couple of minor repairs to the veneers, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
