Antique English Cut Glass Vanity Jar - Tortoise Shell & Sterling Silver

Description

A most attractive vanity jar, a wonderful display piece but useful for storing Q-Tips or the like.

The crystal is deep cut in the ever-popular hobnail design with a star cut base.

The lid is made from sterling silver with a hallmark for Birmingham 1908, (a little rubbed), together with the makers mark for T.H. Hazlewood & Co.

The top is inset with a wonderful piece of antique tortoiseshell with decorative markings and colours ranging from golden champagne to deep chocolate brown.

The shell is inlaid with intricate silver pique inlay with engraved floral swags and a big ribbon and bow motif to the top, extremely pretty, with a good glossy patina.

Excellent condition, measuring 3" tall with a lid diameter measuring 3".
