Victorian Cauldron Jardiniere - Christopher Dresser For Benham & Froud

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

A Victorian copper jardiničre by the celebrated metalware company of Benham and Froud. This is made to a design attributed to Dr Christopher Dresser, who designed for the company between 1873 and 1893.

The jardiničre is embossed with a band of repeated flowers and is raised on three strut brass feet. It is clearly marked on the bottom with the Company mark, which contains the famous ''orb'' - adopted because the firm made the present cross on the dome of St Paul''s Cathedral in 1821 and it could be seen from the shop in London.

As can be seen from the photographs, this jardiničre has had a life and is not in perfect condition. It is, nonetheless, an attractive and stylish piece.
