French Walnut Secretaire Abattant C.1830.

Description

Early 19th.c. French walnut secretaire abattant or writing bureau c.1830. Open the fall to reveal a large sloping desk (height 25") with the original tooled leather writing surface. Fitted interior in oak featuring two shelves and eight small stationery drawers with brass knobs. Original grey marble top over a single long frieze drawer above the bureau and a two door cupboard below, fitted with a single shelf. Solid walnut timbers of lovely colour and grain. The front flanked with tall turned columns with original tooled brass mounts to the tops and plain mounts at the bases. Raised on turned front feet. Good quality with oak drawer linings and large brass locks with unusual trefoil pins, the original key is supplied, especially shaped to fit. Large paper label on the rear for the celebrated Paris makers and retailers Maison Krieger. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
