Description

A truly elegant mid-Victorian Sheffield plate (silver on copper) vegetable tureen, standing on four figural feet and the lid having a fabulous finial to the lid in the form of an Artichoke.

If you look inside the tureen, you can see that this exceptional piece was hand-made, hammered into shape, you can see evidence of this.

To each side there is a beautifully engineered hinged handle. The piece dates to the early to mid Victorian era, around 1840 to 1850 and is unmarked, common for these early pieces.

Excellent condition measuring 10" handle to handle x 8" deep x 7" tall.
