Description

A truly magnificent kilim woven by Qashqa'i nomads during the second half of the 19th century.

This kilim, with its bold design comprising three central lozenges, has a fabulous vegetable-colour palette. The long skirts at each end are complete in horizontal bands of brocade.

Kilims were woven to provide privacy inside the black tents by hanging them to make rooms and also to cover bedding stacked around the circumference of the black tent during sedentary periods.

Size: 2.90 x 1.60m (9' 6" x 5' 3").
