Early 19th Century Library Chair -

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Culvertons

Now, professionally & sensitively restored and re-upholstered in a hand-dyed tan leather this 1830''s mahogany library chair really does look splendid, and is very comfortable. The leather has been sympathetically aged and secured with hundreds of single solid brass tacks - the upholsterer is a master at placing these. The front castors are original, the pair to the rear were made to order by a small foundry and then aged to match. The leather cushion is feather filled.

The fine carved detail and decoration is typical of this sought after period in English furniture.

The seat depth is 49 cm, and the width is 47 cm
