This pair of Japanese Cloisonne vases date from the Meiji-Period, (1868 - 1912) and are very decoratively painted.
On one vase, 3 juvenile cranes are seen flying past Mount Fuji at Sunrise and in the second, a pair of adult cranes fly over are scanning for food as they swoop over crashing waves. On the reverse, pink and blue flowers nestle within a aventurine crystal background which sparkles as it catches the light.
