In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The top opens up to reveal partitions for holding papers and letters. One partition is missing but has provided a larger section at the front. The lid is lined with a beautiful green silk.
There have been some small repairs and there are a few small knocks and marks around the outside, general signs of age and light use but nothing detrimental. One small screw has been changed. It has been cleaned, waxed and the brass gently polished and overall it displays beautifully.
