Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

A beautiful dark flame mahogany striking regulator by J Norris c1790.
The small ( 200cm ) high flame mahogany case is in a most wonderful condition still retaining its original high gloss finish and inlay to the hood corners. The case having ebony crossbanding to the trunk, door and base that gives this clock an understated elegance. The hood with an arched top is finished with circular fretwork panels to the side.
The five knopped pillar movement is substantially made and clearly shows a good quality of manufacture with strike/silent lever protruding from the "12" o'clock position of the dial. The movement with grained thick plates has been fully overhauled by me personally and comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind.
The white painted convex brass dial sits beautifully within its cast brass bezel and original convex glass.
Both locks to the hood and case door retain there prospective keys and operate as expected.
J Norris is listed in the list of apprentices of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, having been apprenticed to John Basire for 7 years at a cost of 3
