Description

This 19th century British Royal Navy Bicorn hat which is made by Friedberg of Portsea is complete with a pair of Lieutenant's Epaulettes and comes in a painted tole tin case.

The hat which has gilt thread decoration is marked to the inside with previous owners names and the case has a brass name plate to the front. The epaulettes which have gold and silver thread, attached silver naval anchors and brass crown buttons are by Naval Outfitters Matthews & Co of Portsea and Portsmouth.

Hat inside circumference = 56 cm / 22".

Approx measurements of case:

W = 46 cm / 18".

D = 19 cm / 7 1/2".

H = 27 cm / 10 1/2".

Weight: 1.878 Kg.

Condition: Very good used antique condition with age related wear. Hat has some moth holes to inner headband. Tin case has all over rust and dents. Please see pictures.
