In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a small brass latch on the side to fix it together when used as a chair. Superbly well made and such a quirky piece of furniture that converts from a chair to steps and back again in one simple movement.
It is in good original condition with a wonderful aged patina. The joints are clean and strong and the whole piece is sturdy. There are some small knocks, minor marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It displays very well and has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
