It is in good condition and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina.
The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy. There are the usual signs of age and use and some minor marks and knocks and a small ink stain on the sloped front but nothing detrimental. The piece is strong and sturdy and displays very well.
