Description
A rarer, 10 " painted dial fusee dropdial wall clock. A mahogany case of high quality with a cast brass bezel surround. Brass inlay and brass line inlay with floral roundels. The original side carvings. A pendulum glass aperture. Blued steel hands to the painted dial signed 'W GRAY LEICESTER'. An 8-day duration English timepiece fusee mechanism. Circa 1855. William Gray of Leicester is recorded in Loomes' 'Watch and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1849-1864. This example dates to circa 1855.
