The inside border framed with an inlaid line of black marble .

Produced as both 'Grand Tour' souvenirs and decorative items , specimen marble paperweights and objects of this type have traditionally been manufactured in both Rome and Florence since the Renaissance.

A multitude of coloured marble specimens are included, amongst them being malachite , giallo di Siena , porphyry, Nero marquina and onyx examples .
In excellent original condition with only minor fritting to the edges commensurate with age , use and purpose.
