Sheraton Revival Music Cabinet

17th century
Description

A superb quality and highly impressive late Victorian Sheraton Revival inlaid satinwood MUSIC CABINET. The top, which is marquetry inlaid with classical motifs of an urn; scrolls and leaves, and cross banded in palm wood with boxwood stringing, features a similarly marquetry inlaid drawer to the frieze. Underneath are three shelves and further below three vertical compartments. The finest veneers are used throughout, and it is supported on pretty inlaid 'toupee' feet. Originally used to store sheet music, this is ideal today as a Drawing Room piece to store magazines; DVDs or even records!
