Description

Very impressive mid 19th.c. mahogany combination wardrobe and linen press by the London cabinet makers W&C Wilkinson c.1840. Side pods fitted inside with brass rails for full length hanging, either side of a taller and deeper central section with a two door cupboard with four sliding shelves over a chest of drawers with two short and two long drawers of graduated depth. Stunning front with exceptional flame mahogany veneers laid in a complex symmetrical pattern across the moulded cornice, arch door panels and surrounds, drawer fronts and plinth. Original turned mahogany knobs. Solid mahogany sides and drawer linings. Stamped ‘W&C Wilkinson 14 Ludgate Hill’ together with the serial number 11735 on the top of the top right hand drawer front. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Splits into four sections plus cornice and plinth for ease of delivery.
