Description

Chinese Yixing stoneware teapot, mid 19th Century. The large teapot enamelled to either side, with panels of flowering plants, between turquoise panels painted with bamboo shoots. Having a squared ‘S’ shaped spout, enamelled in blue, as are the twin lug handles, which are pierced and accommodate a European mounted elaborate metal scroll shaped handle. Set upon four bracket feet.

The blue enamelled cover, mounted with a metal flower shaped finial.

Impressed square seal mark to the base.

Height - 25.5 cm, 10”.

Width - 19 cm, 7 1/2”.

Depth - 12.5 cm, 4 7/8”.

Condition - Very minor wear to the enamel. No damage. No restoration.
