Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Provincial sideboards originated in the 18th century as countryside adaptations of Parisian court styles, particularly Louis XV and Regency designs. They typically feature solid timber construction, carved panel doors, serpentine or breakfront contours, cabriole legs, and often a fitted marble top.

These pieces are usually constructed from native European hardwoods such as walnut, oak, cherry, or fruitwood. Tops were often finished with thick, profiled slabs of local marble, accompanied by cast brass or bronze handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, wooden peg joinery throughout the carcass, and hand-carved decorative motifs rather than molded resin or stamped timber. Look for natural oxidation on metal hardware and original fitting marks under the marble slab.

A large French sideboard serves as an anchor piece in a dining room, hallway, or living space. Contrast its detailed timber carving and marble top by hanging modern abstract art above it, or style it with minimal ceramic vessels to balance classical and contemporary elements.

Dust the wood regularly with a soft cloth and apply natural beeswax annually to maintain the timber patina. Clean the marble top using only pH-neutral stone cleaner, wiping spills immediately to prevent acidic etching or staining on porous marble surfaces.
