56" x 19" woven tapestry panel featuring a portrait of Lindbergh at the centre, with scenes of the Spirit of St Louis flying over Mexico City’s Metropolital Cathedral to the left and the New York skyline complete with Statue of Liberty to the right. Faded with age and some minor marks, generally very good original condition, presented behind glass in a period frame.

Lindbergh’s 33½ hour solo flight from New York to Paris launched him from the obscurity of a U.S postal pilot to almost instant world wide celebrity. The flight to Mexico was proposed by the US ambassador Dwight Morrow as a way of patching up diplomatic relations between the two countries. The trip was a great success and was extended to be come a goodwill tour of South America. It was whilst in Mexico that Lindbergh met his future wife Anne Morrow, daughter of the ambassador.
