18th century Edinburgh longcase clock (Leith)

Completely original and in superior condition. A very special clock from one of the top Edinburgh makers. A rare find. Circa: 1780s-90s Complete with door key.
Little is known about this maker, but the fact of his name appearing regularly till the year 1718 in these records makes it apparent he was at that date located in Edinburgh.
ALEXANDER, ROBERT. Tolbooth Wynd and Shore,
Leith, 1751-1825.
There were apparently three generations of this
name, but the authentic proof is awanting to connect these
Leith makers with the above. All evidence available makes it almost certain that they belong to the same family. Unfortunately, it is not until the year 1751
that we have documentary proof of this firm's location.
