It's a hefty piece weighing in at around 2 1/2 pounds or well over a kilo, top-notch quality.
The spherical inkwell is topped with four ball finial and a central torch flame.

Again the base is a riot of ornate cast brass standing on two different pairs of feet, either side of the base is mounted with a cast grotesque face or mask.
The hinged lid opens to reveal the glass liner as mentioned about, removable for easy filling and cleaning.
A magnificent desk-top accessory in superb condition. The base measures 7 1/4" x 6 7/8" and stands 6 1/2" tall.
