This glazed English bookcase dates to Circa 1860, and unusually, it is veneered in amboyna; this colour of amboyna is particularly desirable and rarely seen as a decorative veneer on English furniture.
The moldings are made of solid rosewood - another feature that suggests quality and high cost at the time of manufacture.
The bookcase has been professionally and sensitively restored and retains a lovely colour & surface indicative of its age.
The glazing is original, and the quality of construction is excellent.
This cabinet is of small proportions, and as such can be easily placed within the home - but at 9 3/4 inches deep, the adjustable shelf is able to hold most of today''s books.
Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcel
...led and securely sent by the carrier.
We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.
