Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Masons stoneware, patented by Charles James Mason in 1813, is a dense, heavy earthenware developed in England to compete with imported Chinese porcelain. It became famous for colourful Chinoiserie patterns, relief decorations, and ornate vessel forms during the nineteenth century.

These vessels were crafted using heavy earthenware clay bodies containing iron slag and flint for durability. Complex pieces were press-moulded with raised relief figures, hand-assembled with decorative handles, and finished with enamels and glazes prior to firing.

Authentic Masons pieces typically display impressed or printed makers marks on the base, such as Masons Patent Ironstone China. They also feature substantial stoneware weight, crisp relief moulding, and characteristic polychrome glaze palettes.

A decorative Chinoiserie lidded vase functions well as a focal point on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or bookshelf. Placing it alongside simpler contemporary ceramics creates an engaging contrast between detailed historical craftsmanship and clean lines.

Clean the surface gently using a dry microfibre cloth or a soft brush to remove dust from raised relief details. Avoid soaking the piece, using abrasive sponges, or applying harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage cold-painted enamels or surface glazes.
