~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A very finely detailed gilt bronze clock set in excellent original condition, retailed by the Paris retailer Pierre Lemasson. The style is Baroque. The clock movement is held aloft by cherubim forming the front pillars. The cherubim look back at two winged lions which are tethered. The pendulum is visible swinging below the movement between the cherubim pillars, pendulum is formed as a shield with lions rampant.

Above the dial is a typical Baroque broken arch. The back of the top is fretted along with the base and the clock is beautifully detailed and well finished. Candelabra have four lions supporting high, twirling acanthus branches. Snuffers sit in the central nozzle as a finial. The dial is also gilt bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Pierre Lemasson is listed in Tardy, Dictionnaire Des Horlogers as working in The Rue Commine, Paris in 1870.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent with no damage. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
