Description

A handsome antique English ice bucket in the form of a bucket or pail, made from silver plate by the top notch silversmith, Mappin and Webb; the underside is fully marked for the silversmith.

The inside has a drainer which sits on a rim on the interior, allowing melted ice to drain, keeping the ice dry.

This is of nautical interest. engraved to the front for the New Zealand Shipping Company. The New Zealand Shipping Company (NZSC) was a shipping company whose ships ran passenger and cargo services between Great Britain and New Zealand between 1873 and 1973.

Dating to c.1900, it remains in excellent condition, wear to the interior commensurate with age. 5 12" handle to handle x 5 1/4" x 6" tall to top of handles.
