On crisply turned and reeded front column supports. Clearly stamped •Jacob on the top of both the rear stiles. Excellent condition and original colour simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Following its founding in 1765 by George Jacob (1739-1814) chair maker to Louis XVI, three generations of the Jacob family grew the company through the Revolutionary and Napoleonic years to become the largest and most influential furniture makers and retailers in Paris. Jacob pieces can be found in the collections of several of the world great museums. This piece probably dates from the era of George Alphonse Jacob, grandson of George
