Antique English Sterling Silver Tea Caddy - George Nathan & Ridley Hayes

Description

A most elegant Edwardian solid or sterling silver tea caddy, a stunning shape with a hinged lid and cast silver pivoting finial or handle.

The top and bottom have raised beading detail, and the front is engraved with a draped fabric shield with a vacant oval cartouche to the centre.

The lid is hinged, fits extremely well and when opened reveals a gilded interior.

There is a good clear hallmark for the highly desirable and collectible Chester assay office and the year 1907; together with the makers mark for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.

Excellent condition, measuring 3.6 troy ounces or 111.9 grams. Measurements: 3 1/2" wide x 2 1/8" deep x 4" tall (excluding handle).
