A 19th Century Carved & Decorated Wooden Stag's Head

The uniformity of the stag horns chosen to mount this unusual carved mahogany deers'' head and the robust fixing points suggest to me this may have been a decorative rack for a hunting rifle (s). The carving has Chinese or Persian influences but the mahogany deer''s head is more reminiscent of eurpopean design & craftmanship - I would suggest that this was ''possibly'' the product of a collaboration between the two, possibly for a country house or colonial client.
 
A part of the one of the ears has been replaced and one re-attached. There are also early witness marks between the eyes of a previous fixing point. However the head''s colour is particularly attractive as is the horns patina.
