ANTIQUE #SA664470

A Carved Oak & Stag Horned Face Mask

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Culvertons

This interesting & decorative carving of a horned man has attracted many admirers since going on display in our Dorking Showroom. Similar to the Green Man it has connections with nature, wilderness, fertility, hunting and the cycle of life. Carved from oak in France in the late 19th Century and now sensitively restored it makes an attractive focal point for a room interior. The original old French inscription ''Ne L''est Pas Qui Veut'' that spans the base roughly translates ''Dont let he who wants'' (our thanks go out to the quintessential beret wearing passing Frenchman who helped).

Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier.
