Late C19th Anglo-Indian Hoshiarpur ivory inlaid octagonal 'shisham' table.

Profusely ivory-inlaid Indian octagonal top occasional table on hinged and folding base. The centre with elaborate inlaid circular panel with ebony band , surrounded by further ivory decoration of trailing vines and flower-heads with ebony line banding, the edges ivory inlaid motifs.

The edge of the top with a gently bevelled profile , inlaid with ivory star-type motifs.

The folding base with 8 hinged and 'mihrab' arch arcaded sides each inlaid with corresponding ivory decoration .

The underside with two twisting cleats to secure the top in position. Evidence of old manufacturer's brown paper retail labels.

In excellent original condition, the timber having achieved a pleasing faded mellow patination.
