Description

A fine quality English verge bracket clock. A mahogany bell top case surmounted by a brass handle and four acorn finials. Brass fretwork front and side panels standing on ogee bracket feet. A very well engraved silvered dial with strike/silent and a date aperture. Blued steel hands. An 8-day twin fusee verge escapement mechanism striking the hours on a bell. A very well engraved brass mechanism backplate. Later wall bracket. Charles Bayles of London is recorded in Loomes 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working in 1775.
