Art Deco French Clock - Onyx and Bronze by F. H. Danvin (Sculptor)

1920 - 1940
Description

~ French - Circa 1930 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

An elegant Art Deco clock of geometric design in specimen amber brown, white and green onyx. It is mounted with a stylised golden pheasant with long curved tail by F.H Danvin, modelled in bronze and selectively chrome plated and gilded. The plating has worn to give a lovely antique patina. The sculptors signature is impressed into the base. It has a top quality Paris movement.

The dial is matted silvered brass, screen printed with numerals and with square formed blued steel hands. The bezel is chrome plated with specially scalloped and bevelled glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is by Lebrejale of Paris. It is a traditional 'Pendule de Paris' movement with a quality lever escapement (no setting up is required). It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.

Condition of the case is excellent, the onyx has a good polish with some minor nibbles to the edges and a small crack on one of the green onyx blocks along a natural striation. The Bronze pheasant has wear to the original plating and the bronze has naturally patinated to a lovely brown. The dial is also very good, some fading and discolouration and wear to the screen printed lettering. The bevelled glass is excellent and original.

Exacta clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate of Lebrejale, Saint-Nicolas-D'Aliermont, Rue de Franche Comte, Paris, founded in 1807 in Paris, listed working in 1933.

The bronze signed F. H. Danvin
